Kentucky legislation has declared that it is going to force online casinos to leave the US gambling market by means of shutting down their domain names. This initiative causes many disputes and protests from the side of gambling companies. The Poker Players Alliance (gamblers’ advocacy group) announced publicly the newly plans and PPA fears about the consequences of this step and the future of online casinos’ industry. The US global market in contrast to many others has rather strong limitation on content which can be placed on the sites and people who breaks the law goes to trail, thus this threat to those online casinos that will not obey the law.
The plan to confiscate about 141 domain names has been declared by Steve Beshear, the Kentucky Governor. Some of this domain names are registered internationally in contrast to coming prohibition on online gambling activity. The PPA resists against this new legislation, Jon Pappas, the head of the PPA, has immediately announced that this initiative would set a alarming “precedent for censorship of the Internet by force,” and this situation touches not only online casinos’ industry but goes outside its limits.
The PPA is known for its activity on the field of legalization and regulation of online casino gambling market and support of efforts to license this business. The PPA has attracted public’s attention to the plan of the Kentucky Governor that is questionably legal and probably ineffective and suggests supporting the forces protecting American players with the help of different regulations of internet gambling industry.
